Introduction
The new Child Health Promotion Programme (CHPP), Pregnancy and the first five years of life was launched by DH and DCSF in March. As part of the launch The Department of Health, in conjunction with the Department of Children, Schools and Families, is holding a national conference in London on Wednesday 18th June from 10:30 to 15:30.
The conference is for commissioners of children’s services and senior clinical and/or service leads for children and families from PCTs and Local Authorities. We are allocating 3 places for each PCT/Local Authority area. We are also inviting national and regional leaders and stakeholders.
The purpose of the conference is to share the strategic aims of the new CHPP, to inform commissioning and to support local delivery. The day will feature key note speakers and you will have an opportunity to attend two workshops. The provisional workshop topics include ‘Delivering the CHPP through Children’s Centres and General Practice’, ‘The Family Nurse Partnership programme and progressive universalism’, ‘Developing the CHPP workforce’ and ‘The CHPP contribution to preventing obesity’.
The CHPP lies at the heart of services for children and families from pregnancy to adulthood and providing a high quality CHPP that is visible and accessible to families is a core health responsibility, contributing to the delivery of Every Child Matters and the new PSA indicators. The new CHPP updates the National Service Standard One and focuses on pregnancy and the first years of life. Lunch will be provided and there is no charge to attend, however as spaces are limited we ask that you register your attendance by Tuesday 27th May.
