The National Motorcycle Museum
13 March 2008

. ** REGISTER NOW TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT **

The purpose of this conference is to celebrate the successful completion of the SLICT programme and to inspire leaders in their leadership of ICT to continue to improve learning and teaching within the school.  At the end of the conference we would like participants to feel re-invigorated about their ICT leadership roles and to have gained some practical ideas about moving forwards with ICT within their schools.

Who can attend?

The programme is open to all headteachers, deputies, acting heads and leadership teams who have attended or are registered to attend a SLICT training programme, particularly those who have not had the opportunity to attend one of the very popular regional Harnessing Technology conferences.

Previous SLICT conferences

In early 2006, NCSL hosted a series of regional conferences for participants on the SLICT programme. The high attendance figures for each conference reflected the quality guidance and support that many senior managers said they had received from the SLICT programme and its facilitators. The majority of those attending the conferences had worked with SLICT facilitators in developing a vision for their school in the future. Many of those attending commented that they viewed the conferences as a development of their work with SLICT in further challenging their vision for the future of ICT.Here are some of their comments at the end of the day.

‘A brilliant day. Completely opened my eyes to how ICT should be going. Especially work with mobile technologies.’ Primary headteacher – Peterborough

‘This conference emphasises that it’s all about learning and providing opportunities for children and about the excitement you can generate for young people.’ Infant headteacher – Barnet

School leaders left feeling both informed and inspired and many delegates also said that they had been challenged by the conference.

‘I found today really exciting. Realising just where my school ought to be with ICT.’ Primary headteacher – Hertfordshire

‘It’s now all about our ability as heads to be eloquent enough to get this jaw dropping inspirational creativity across to our staff and parents.’ Primary headteacher - Barnet
