Now embarking on its third year, the Inspire Scholarships programme is the construction industry’s leading scholarship programme, bringing the brightest and best graduates into the industry. By sponsoring a scholar, employers can help support a student through university and provide them with a work placement that will enrich their studies and equip them for the world of work. In return employers gain access to top quality students before they enter the graduate market.
This event brings together employers and students taking part in Inspire Scholarships and celebrates the successes of the programme to date. For employers considering getting involved, the day will also provide an insight into the business benefits the programme can bring.
During the morning Sir Michael Latham, Peter Lobban and Karen Patrick of ConstructionSkills will examine why investing in top quality graduates is essential to the future of the construction industry, discuss the future of the programme and the support it seeks and provide details of how to get involved. The morning will also include the presentation of a prize to the winner of the annual Inspire Scholarships competition.
Following a networking lunch, students and employers are invited to take part in two informal focus group sessions, to explore their experiences of the Inspire programme and debate the wider issues surrounding attracting quality graduates into the construction industry. For those that register and take part in these focus groups during the afternoon there is the opportunity to win a flight on the British Airways London Eye.
