Introduction
The Skills for Business Summer Parliamentary Reception College Gardens, behind Westminster Abbey (use Great College Street entrance) We look forward to welcoming you to our evening reception. This event will bring together MPs, peers, senior civil servants, education and skills practitioners, employers and other influential stakeholders. This will be your opportunity to meet and network with Board Members and senior management from the 25 Sector Skills Councils and the Sector Skills Development Agency, and to find out more about the new UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Sir Michael Rake, newly appointed Chair of the UK CES, will be present to say a few words about the commission and also the Rt Hon John Denham, Secretary of State for the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills will be speaking (with David Lammy, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills) Skills for Business is a UK-wide, employer-led network consisting of 25 Sector Skills Councils and the Sector Skills Development Agency. Through labour market intelligence, the identification of skills needs at all levels and its influence on the UK’s education and training infrastructure, our network aims to increase productivity in business and public services.
